The Circuit
On a hot summer day picking strawberries was a common chore for a person living in poverty. The lives of these kinds of people get worse every day but no one realizes how bad it’s getting. In the short story “The Circuit” by Franciso Jimenez the main characters family experiences what its like to live without any thing. They only want to have a better life but they have to work twice as hard as everyone else just to scrape by and it’s not fair but life isn’t fair.

The boy in this story who is never named is forced to move from his house with his family to find work elsewhere. His family consists of a dad, a mom, one older brother, and a sister. He has to deal with loosing all his friends and leaving his home, it is a very tragic feeling for him. He has to leave his whole life behind and has no say in it.

School is not easy for a new person to start especially if you forget your place in the world. I remember when during 3rd grade I had to go to a different school it takes time to fit in or to become part a group and it is hard to understand the social status. When he was picked to read he was speechless he was scared and began to cry. Luckily he was man enough to admit it and asked for help from his teacher. Him doing that gives you an idea about what kind of person he is. It is a little view of his true character.

He has learned English made friends and is going to learn how to play the trumpet but it is time for him to leave. Again he has to leave against his will and no one even realizes how much it hurts him. His life is like a tragedy it ends in a death of a dream. For him life is unfair.
